HT 722 A Survey of American Christianity, American Lutheranism and the Lutheran Brethren 3 credits

This course picks up the discussion from HT 715 (which is a pre-requisite for this course), with emphasis on the American Church movement from its roots to the present. Early American Lutheranism, revivalism, European influences, the fundamentalist/modernist controversy, Liberation Theology and other important interactions between individuals, groups, institutions, events and ideas are also covered. The semester concludes with a focus on the roots and development of the Church of the Lutheran Brethren.
