Location:
The Christiansen Memorial
Library is located in the Media Center along with Lutheran Brethren
Seminary classrooms and offices. It serves the seminary students and
faculty, Lutheran Brethren pastors, as well as, local patrons and
pastors in the area. The hours for public us are 8:00 – 5:00 Monday
through Friday when school is in session. The librarian’s office hours
are 8:30 – 12:30 Monday through Friday during the school year.
History:
The library was formerly housed on the main floor of the Hillcrest
building and was combined with the high school library. It was
formerly named Lutheran Bible School Library and the Bible-Seminary
Library. It was moved to the present location, Broen Media Center, in
the 1970’s. In 1990 the library was named for Reverend C. Christiansen
(1902-1982), a former librarian and seminary professor for many years
at Lutheran Brethren Schools.
Materials:
The library contains over 19,000 volumes on circulation and reference shelves. Over 100 periodicals, journals, and newsletters are currently received. Special collections include over 700 Christian biographies, numerous videos, cassette tapes, and some kits, CD’s. and DVD’s. We also have a variety of Old and New Testament commentaries and reference works. We offer computers for student use (with a password) and computer search capabilities. We have periodical indexes, Religion Index One and Guide to Social Science and Religion (on-line and print edition).
