Bachelor of Theology
The Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.) degree is an undergraduate degree in theology, which qualifies one to serve as a pastor or missionary within the Church of the Lutheran Brethren. Undoubtedly, other church bodies would also recognize this degree as preparation for ministry. The B.Th. is built upon one or two years of general education courses on the collegiate level. Students pursuing this degree at the Lutheran Brethren Seminary mainly follow the M. Div. track for their theological studies. The degree, Bachelor of Theology, will be granted to those students who complete the 32 credits of prescribed general education requirements plus the 94 required credits in the seminary degree program of study. The required 32 credits or even 64 (Associate of Arts degree) of general education requirements can be completed, if necessary, while the student is enrolled in seminary and taking some seminary courses.
Younger students contemplating a calling in pastoral ministry are encouraged to complete a full two-year A.A. degree before pursuing the Bachelor of Theology degree.
